ABOUT VIP FISHING

A day of fishing and fun!

Hello! I'm Max Moore and I'm 12 years old. 3 years ago I got my first pair of glasses. My eyesight was really bad and starting to get worse. It was very shocking when I first put them on.  The only word I can possibly say is, “WOW”!!! Everything was BEAUTIFUL.  I could see the leaves on trees, instead of just one green BLOB......before glasses, words looked like fuzzy black lines. I was having trouble doing my schoolwork, which was a requirement to go fishing, so I missed a whole bunch of days that I could’ve been on the water.

If I were to completely lose my vision, I feel I should still do what I love. Fishing might be a little harder but it would be worth it. I think a visually impaired child (VIP) should have the ability to be outdoors with a little bit of guidance from family or a friend.......

This is why I am hosting an event where we pair a sighted angler (guide) with an unsighted angler (VIP). This way the event is safe for the kids and they can experience something new. The guides and VIPs will have a lot of fun fishing together! We know the guides will have a rewarding time while helping with the safety of the kids. As a guide, you will have the opportunity to assist the kids with simple tasks related to fishing: baiting the hook, casting the line, removing fish from hooks, measuring and photographing the catch. Just make sure the kids have a great time!!!

With a simple Google search, it seemed to me that visually impaired people have been forgotten. At least, when it comes to outside activities.  I don’t see why that can’t change,  it would make me feel sad if I couldn’t do the things I love, like play outside with my dog, explore, and fish.

I hope we can count on you to help make a memorable day reality while bringing blessings to your own life as well.  Remember, ECHAL (Everyone Can Help A Little)!
